Irene Trujillo Villegas was born in Manizales, Colombia in 1991. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in sculpture and drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 2018 and in 2022 she completed Postgraduate studies in Applied Arts from the Escola Massana in Barcelona, Spain. Likewise, Irene received the title of Professional Cook from the Gato Dumas College of Cooks in Bogotá, Colombia in 2015. She resides and works in Barcelona, Spain since 2019.

Her work, which includes interactions between sculpture, drawing, photography and installation, aims to respond to three main purposes: react to the configuration of the endogenous elements of a space by intervening with a creative process, dignify what has been discarded, forgotten or overlooked with a new (or first) reading, and generate a narrative between objects or forms coexisting in the same space, whether in two or three dimensions. In addition to her plastic work, in recent years Irene has co-founded collectives in Mexico, France, Greece, Switzerland and Barcelona with the aim of establishing cultural ties through common dialogues: food, movement, exploration of the environment , play and spontaneity are some of her topics of interest.

Irene is currently passing through Latin America, between Mexico, Perú and Colombia, seeking perspectives on the experience of migration, cultural identity, and the fundamental human desire for belonging and connection.
